An intersting concept...a web portal that only serves ads, that is. NBC Universal has just recently announced plans for a video portal that views advertising AS the entertainment called didja.com Not a bad idea, I suppose...I would likely tune in every once in a while. Interesting though, in a time when media experts are trying to figure out a way to navigate around the TiVo epidemic of users simply skipping ads. Now users who WANT to see ads, and moreso, ads as entertainment, will have their cake and be able to, metaphorically, eat it too. Why might this idea of a 100% ad based content site actually work? Well, for one, it will guarantee that the users who go their will legitimately want to be viewing ads...thus ensuring an incredible increase in ad efficiency/spend ratios for brands.
I'm sold...but let's see how it all plays out...will this just be another corporate attempt to be part of web 2.0? let's see...
